Student UX/UI Designer

Overview

Unfortunately, I'm unable to share the designs of my projects as they are confidential. However, I can assure you that I have been contributing significantly during my almost two years as a student UX/UI Designer here. I have been working on the UX Design team, where I have designed for several customer-facing products, with a primary focus on enhancing user experience and optimizing conversion rates.

In the last 12 months, I have been responsible for 90% of the design work for one of our products, leading UX initiatives, executing iterative design improvements, and ensuring a seamless user experience aligned with business goals.

Here’s a quick overview of my completed projects and contributions during this period:

Hotel Review Interface Redesign:

Problem:

Reviews were presented in a dense, text-heavy format, making it difficult for users to extract key insights quickly. Additionally, poor color contrast limited accessibility for users with visual impairments.

Solution:

Accessibility Improvements: Optimized color contrast for readability, ensuring compliance with WCAG standards. Replaced light gray backgrounds with a darker alternative for better legibility.

Information Hierarchy: Implemented a modular card layout with visual emphasis on key review aspects (e.g., pros/cons, rating distribution) for at-a-glance comprehension.

Clean Aesthetic: Reduced visual clutter through whitespace, subtle dividers, and a balanced color palette, creating a more digestible and user-friendly interface.n.

Booking Form Optimisation:

Problem:

A heuristic evaluation revealed inconsistent UI patterns, lack of clear feedback mechanisms, and unnecessary complexity in the booking flow, leading to user frustration and abandonment.

Solution:

Stepper Navigation: Introduced a step-by-step booking flow, providing clear visual indicators of progress and reducing cognitive load.

Enhanced Booking Summary: Designed a comprehensive, yet concise, overview of trip details—including itinerary, cost breakdown per traveler, and clear action buttons to modify selections easily.

Microinteractions & Feedback: Improved real-time form validation and loading indicators to ensure seamless interaction and reduce frustration.

Linking Feature for Seamless Travel Planning:

Problem:

User research revealed gaps in the discoverability and integration of key features, such as calendar views and best flight options, forcing users to backtrack or navigate through unrelated sections.nt.

Solution:

Contextual Linking: Created intuitive connections between related features, allowing users to navigate fluidly without disrupting their workflow.

Cross-Feature Consistency: Aligned interaction patterns across booking and planning tools, ensuring a unified experience throughout the platform.

Region Page Redesign:

Problem:

Existing region pages had low engagement and conversion rates due to lack of personalization and limited promotional opportunities for Online Travel Agents (OTAs).

Solution:

Personalised Recommendations: Enabled OTAs to highlight high-performing destinations and promote specific hotels within each region.

Customisable Callouts: Introduced modular div containers where agencies can add promotional messages or curated content.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Leveraged extensive A/B testing to identify the most effective layouts and interaction patterns for increased engagement and conversions.

XXL Breakpoint Addition:

Problem:

The existing design framework was optimized for standard screen sizes, resulting in suboptimal user experiences on ultra-wide displays.

Solution:

Adaptive Grid System: Redesigned the layout structure to accommodate larger viewports while maintaining visual balance.

Enhances Content Density: Optimized the display of key content elements, ensuring efficient use of available space without overwhelming the user.

Scalability Considerations: Ensured fluid responsiveness across all breakpoints, preserving usability across devices.

MVP for Favourite Hotels Feature:

Problem:

OTAs lacked a simple, intuitive way for users to save and manage preferred hotel selections, limiting return visits and engagement.

Solution:

Effortless Saving: Introduced a one-click "Favorite" button with clear feedback and confirmation states.

Centralized Access: Designed a dedicated "Favorites" section for easy retrieval and comparison of saved hotels.

User-Centric Iteration: Gathered user insights post-launch to refine functionality and ensure seamless integration into the broader booking journey.

Print Template for In-Person Travel Agencies:

Problem:

Travel agents needed a customizable, professional print template to provide customers with clear, branded travel information, but existing options lacked flexibility and branding alignment.

Solution:

Flexible Content Customization: Travel agents can generate hotel-only or full-package printouts, tailoring the details to customer needs.

Personalized Branding: Customizable color schemes, agency logos, and footer information ensure consistency with each agency’s identity.

Agent Messaging Feature: Allows travel agents to include a personal note at the top, enhancing customer engagement and trust.

I’d be happy to discuss and answer questions about my process working on these projects with you!
